Baseball Projections Challenge Open

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Anyone who believes their 2010 baseball stat projections are the best around can now start testing that theory.

The Fantasy Sports Trade Association announced Monday that submissions are now being taken for the second year of the second year of the Fantasy Baseball Projection Accuracy Challenge — run by Donnie Campbell of TheMostCredible.com, Sara Holladay of FFLibrarian.com and Bill Green of FantasyDispute.com.

Projections can be submitted any time between now and the end of baseball season, as long as you can prove they were finalized and published before Opening Day (April 4). Participants must provide numbers for all 250 players listed on the official form and are asked to send to all of the following e-mail addresses:

FSTA.Accuracy.Contest@gmail.com
dc@themostcredible.com
greenbill@fantasydispute.com
fflibrarian@gmail.com

Anyone can enter, but only FSTA member companies are eligible to win. You can find the player sheet and other details on the FSTA site. The winner will be announced at the 2011 winter conference. RotoHog took home the inaugural honor in January.

CBS, Rotohog Win Accuracy Awards

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

CBS Sports set forth the most accurate football player rankings in 2009, while Rotohog was tops in stat projections for both baseball and football.

Sara Holladay, the Fantasy Football Librarian, and Donnie Campbell of TheMostCredible.com handed out those awards Wednesday at the Fantasy Sports Trade Association conference.

CBS topped a field of 48 participants — more than double the entries from 2008 — in the second season of the FSTA’s partnership on the Accuracy Challenge. Fantazzle took home last year’s award.

Rotohog’s wins each came in new categories.

Although the competition is obviously done at this point, Holladay and Campbell welcomed anyone who wasn’t included to submit their 2009 preseason rankings and/or projections now to see how they stacked up.

FSB Daily 8/18: Best Buy, Accuracy Challenge, College Hoops

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

A roundup of recent posts on the FSB News page.

– Electronics retail chain Best Buy will be presenting a weekly fantasy football game this season. Among the few details currently available on the game’s early sign-up page are that celebrities will be involved as weekly competitors, prizes will include laptops, game consoles and other such products that you can typically find at Best Buy. FSTA president and LeagueSafe founder Paul Charchian said via Facebook that he has been working with Best Buy in this effort. We’ll have more in the coming days on what to expect. Best Buy previously partnered with Fanball on a fantasy football game in 2004.

– The FF Librarian has opened up the fantasy football rankings accuracy challenge for this season. Anyone who publishes rankings before the start of the regular season can submit his or her efforts to fflibrarian@gmail.com to be included. Check here for a full explanation. Last year’s winner was Fantazzle.

– There aren’t too many avenues for a fantasy player to pursue college basketball, but one is the Big Chief Challenge on FCBLZone.com with Perry Missner, friend to FSB.com, former World Fantasy Games associate editor and one of the few writers out there devoted to fantasy college hoops.

A More Accurate Look at Baseball Accuracy Challenge

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

With the first pitch of baseball season just a few days away, it’s become apparent that our initial post on the FSTA baseball accuracy challenge was a bit lacking in specifics and clarity.

Just to restate, the challenge is being put on by the Fantasy Sports Trade Association in conjunction with FantasyDispute.com, the Fantasy Football Librarian and TheMostCredible.com to recognize fantasy outlets that provide the most accurate player stat projections for the coming season.

The baseball version of this challenge that originated in the 2008 football season differs in that participants must provide specific projections rather than just player rankings.

“We decided that you just couldn’t do the player rankings as easily with baseball as with football so we’re looking at projected stats for specific players instead,” said Sara Holladay, the FF Librarian and one of three judges for the challenge.

Those interested in participating should download the rules sheet and the official entry form from the FSTA’s site. Completed forms should be sent to Holladay (fflibrarian@gmail.com), Bill Green (greenbill@fantasydispute.com) and Donnie Campbell (dc@themostcredible.com).

Entries will be welcomed throughout the season, as long as participants can verify that their projections were published before the start of the MLB season.
