Louisiana House Considers Fantasy Bill
David Winkler took second place in an ESPN fantasy competition last year, but Louisiana law kept him from claiming his prize T-shirt.
One less shirt might not be that big a deal, but Winkler combined his realization of that law and his friendship with state representative Thomas Carmody to bring about action.
Carmody, in turn, sponsored House Bill 316 in the Louisiana legislature, which basically seeks to allow residents to receive payouts from fantasy competitions covered by the federal UIGEA.
The bill passed the House Criminal Justice Committee and will now be debated (and perhaps put to vote) on the House floor.
