My Name is …

Obviously, the best part of playing in a fantasy league is actually competing against your friends, family members or random strangers willing to donate money to your bank account. For many, though, one small part of this annual competition is coming up with the best team name.

FantasyTeamNames.net has recently launched to cater to the crowd of clever namers. The site allows users to enter fantasy team names and then provides a platform for others to cast a positive or negative vote for each, as well as a chance to comment.

The current top five vote getters among all represented sports (football, baseball, basketball, hockey and NASCAR) comprises the following:

  • Byrnes When I Peavy
  • Honey Nut Ichiros
  • Romosexual Tendencies
  • Letters from Okajima
  • Travis Henry is My Dad (which is reportedly being used — accurately — by at least 463 fantasy players around the nation)

My favorite so far, however, is Ki-Jana Monologues.

The site also features a blog, in which the first post beyond the initial welcome is a set of 10 rules for those pondering a name for the coming season.

FantasyTeamNames.net should promise to be one of those sites that’s just fun to visit occasionally, when you need a break from work.
